A ‘peaceful and relaxing’ spot in Delhi sounds a bit like a joke. But such places to escape the city’s hustle bustle seems what everyone needs. We looked for places in Delhi where we can take time off on the weekends from the pace of city life and focus on rejuvenating ourselves ; extricate our thoughts from the excess food, stress and toxins in our bodies and relax. If you need a moment to yourself, here are our recommendations on the best places to relax in Delhi!
HAUZ KHAS FOREST
This is not near the village, this huge park is towards the backside of Siri Fort
Sports Complex. The paths are pretty confusing and there are not a lot of people around, you can easily get lost but that’s an experience in itself! A great place if you’re looking for fresh air and solitude. You can enter from Siri Fort Road (If you’re coming from Kamla Nehru College side towards BRT, it’ll come on your right after the sports complex) or the DDA park in Shahpur Jat.
GARDEN OF FIVE SENSES
Exploring the Garden of Five Senses is breath taking and an enamoring experience. It is not just a park, it’s an intricate blend of natures bounty and subtle human creation. As you step inside, there are multiple things you can have a look at – the colour gardens, the court of specimen plants, the Khas Bagh, the amphitheatre, exhibition centre and the expansive plaza. A whole new experience in nature’s beauty can help you detoxify mentally and relax.
DUSIT DEVARANA, NEW DELHI
Eight acres of refreshing greenery and tranquil water-bodies blend seamlessly with award winning architecture. The perfect escape from the tediousness of city life. Yet it’s only a few minutes’ drive from the airport and offices, embassies, shopping malls and markets in Delhi. Check out the Devarana spa for a traditional hamaam experience. Long considered the ultimate in relaxation, it helps promote tranquility, healing and detoxification.

HAUZ KHAS AND DEER PARK

While you are on the go you will come across boards which will guide you to perform fitness exercises, you should follow them on the way, it makes the walk absolutely fun-tastic. The park has four different wings i.e. Rose Garden, Deer Park, Fountain & District Park, Old Monuments and Hauz Khas Art Market. Once inside the park it’s hard to believe that you’re in the heart of Delhi. Besides all the above, the park has a beautiful restaurant called ‘Park Baluchi’ .
Here’s a great place for family picnics and relaxation! Lodhi Garden is spread over an area of about 90 acres, it has 5 beautiful architectural works from the 15th century- Mohammed Shah’s Tomb, Sikander Lodi’s Tomb, Sheesh Gumbad and Bara Gumbad. You can soak up some sun with your family over a game of charades and some yummy sandwiches. If you’re into fitness, in the mornings there are multiple classes for yoga, martial arts etc. you can look into. We recently explored Lodhi Gardens at night, click here to read about our experience.
ARAVALLI BIODIVERSITY PARK
The Aravalli Biodiversity Park is located on the South Central Ridge and spreads over an area of 692 acres. The area is bounded clockwise by JNU (Nelson Mandela Marg), the Mehrauli – Mahipalpur road, NH-8 and the Palam road and the southern boundary of Vasant Vihar.
