Kings of Mughlai Cuisine in Delhi?
We hopped in Karim’s, Karol Bagh for a quick dinner. For those who are not aware, foodies hold a lot of respect for Karim’s, Jama Masjid outlet. It is a long established restaurant in one of the ‘galis’ of old Delhi and serve lip-smacking range of traditional mughlai dishes. In terms of meat, we trust their mutton most. This was the first time that we stepped into the Karol Bagh outlet. And sadly, to our disappointment, we were not as satisfied as we expected to be. We started with mutton seekh kebab. It was out of the world, absolutely delicious! Soft, good meat, cooked to the right amount with perfect taste. This raised our expectations! Next on the order was Mutton Biryani, Kadhai Paneer and Roti. Again, the Mutton in the Biryani was good. Soft and nicely cooked. The overall dish however, was a disappointment. The rice didn’t click our palates. It was dry and the taste was about bland. Quantity was pretty good though. We moved on to the Kadhai Paneer and Roti. Again, they were nothing great, and barely touching an “OKAY” on the scale of quality. The paneer seemed fresh, but failed
