Parsi Bhonu | Lunch at Rustom’s

Tucked away on the busy Aurobindo Marg, Rustom’s is a small cosy restaurant, which serves authentic Parsi Bhonu (Parsi Meal/ Cuisine). Decorated with wooden furniture, an antique wooden cupboard for crockery and photographs depicting parsi culture; the restaurant has a very warm and cosy feel to it.

Here are the things we tried out –

Paatra Ni Macchi

We started off with manager’s recommended starters, Paatra Ni Macchi and Kheema Pattice. Paatra Ni Macchi is a Parsi Dish, made from steamed fish topped with green chutney and wrapped in a banana leaf! The fish was perfectly cooked and its flavour was well complimented with the mild spices of the chutney!

Kheema Pattice

Kheema Pattice is exactly what it sounds like, only with a parsi touch; minced mutton stuffed in mashed potato patties. I was a bit disappointed because I expected it to be a bit more spicy but my food partner absolutely loved it!

Chicken Vindaloo

For the main course, we ordered Chicken Vindaloo, a popular Goan-Portuguese fusion dish. Though everything we had ordered so far was excellent, this one turned out to be my favorite. It is sautéed gravy chicken cooked in vindaloo masala. It was rightly spiced, and served with two Parathas and two Rotis.

We then ordered Caramel Custard and Kesar Pista Kulfi. Both the dishes provided the sweet ending one would look for to wrap up a great meal.

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Rustom’s. Besides the wonderful food and presentation, the staff’s behaviour was also very satisfactory.

No matter what, you will come out of this place ‘Happy’.
